Who would believe that this little beast is literally risen from the graveyard?
It all began when Nick was looking at motorcycles online and came across one facebook post which comes with a photo of a customized motorcycle, and from that post he looked for more and more posts in the context of customized and restored motorcycles. His interest in motorcycle started to grow as he infiltrates his mind with lots and lots of informations about customization and restoration.
With Interest slowly converted to an urge to own one, Nick got an idea, He remembered his father who was at the time, in Cagayan Valley, Philippines — their province of approximately 600 kilometers north of Manila, Philippines. He called to check on his parents and also to ask about a motorcycle. He suddenly remembered that they used to have a tricycle when he was just at grade school. He used to take that tricycle to school when he got older and already in high school. He remembered that he and his classmates had a really fun time using it even if it was already “karag-karag” at the time. In fact, they even called it “TANSAN” because it looks like it is ready to go to junk and be converted into “TANSAN” or BOTTLE CAP.
Nick and his father finally agreed to rebuild the old motorcycle. Part of the motorcycle were sent through bus to Metro Manila. Nick was able to lay eyes on the motorcycle once again after almost 2 decades. He took the bike straight to a local shop near his place and had it strip down to see what part belongs to what and also what part can still work when fixed. Covered in thick rust, most part of the motorcycle cannot be fixed anymore. Shock absorbers doesn’t play, wiring is impossible to rewire since mice enjoyed most of the parts, lights busted, tank is just not worth restoring, telescopic fork doesn’t play, and hubs, rims and brake systems are incomplete.
The local shop is left with just the engine and the main frame to work with. An overhaul is definitely a must to know wether the rebuild is still possible. After weeks of overhauling, with most parts of the engine replaced, the engine finally worked and Nick is just happy to see the 24 years old engine breath again.
Nick look for parts that he can buy online. He is looking for a lot of things at that time. He realized that since most part of the bike need replacement, why not build it so that it doesn’t look like a TMX anymore. He Basically wanted an inverted fork, monoshock, wider tires, bigger tank and single seater. It wasn’t easy to find the right parts though, and it wasn’t cheap. He ended up buying parts that wouldn’t work, Parts like super wide mags from big bikes which would not align to the engine sprocket, too wide a tire that wouldn’t fit into the fork. He then decided to switch to rims instead.
It’s been 6 months since the build started and Nick still had to shop for rims, fork, and swing arm online but he also had to stop because the budget ran out already. So far, he managed to get some parts like the lights, custom seat with U bend, an a gas tank
